We really have to honor our parents because we owe our literal body to them. But in the spiritual knowledge our parent is not the parent we used to know when we are child, because any man cannot gave any additional life span to man, like the commandment said, "...that thy days may be long upon the land...". Then who is this parent that can make you live long?
